CHICAGO – Nov. 14, 2018 – How adept you are at attracting new clients and promoting your services partially determines the health of your real estate business.

Though traditional marketing – direct mail, signage, and fliers – still matters, a website is perhaps the single most important tool for capturing leads. When evaluating whether a site is positioned strongly for search results, employ some simple hacks, which could make all the difference in attracting customers and bringing in more business.

  • Tailor content to specific customers. First, determine the type of customers you’re trying to reach. Once done, create site content that speaks specifically to their needs, such as someone seeking “waterfront condos in Sarasota.” As a result, your website appears higher in search results for customers seeking that information. If your market caters to married couples with children looking for a vacation rental property, distill your message specifically to that type of buyer. Generic, one-size-fits-all content isn’t likely to move the needle for your business.
  • Use keywords the right way. Incorporating keywords into a website is crucial to improve SEO ranking, but there’s a right and wrong way to do it. Keywords should fit as naturally as possible into the content. If you don’t have a blog on your site, consider starting one. High-quality content is the best place to include targeted keywords. Post on a consistent schedule and focus on topics that provide a real value to potential clients. The more time prospects spend reading a webpage, the higher its search engine optimization ranking will be.
  • Cross-link to other parts of the website. Once you’ve built out site areas and amassed a library of content, start connecting site areas by linking to them within blog content or other pages. Doing this encourages web visitors to click among the different pages, ultimately keeping them on the site longer. If you link back to old blog posts, you’re also giving search engines a chance to find that content and count it toward your SEO ranking.
